Iqbal Day 9 November to be observed as public holiday

Iqbal Day is the birth anniversary of the National poet of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. They day was observed as the public holiday in Pakistan. Last year Federal Govt. of Pakistan cancelled the Iqbal Day’ commemoration as public holiday. Now once again the day is restored as a public holiday across the nation on decree of the Supreme Court.

Waleed Iqbal, son of Javed Iqbal and grandson of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. filed the petition against government of abandoning Iqbal Day as public holiday, over which Supreme Court has taken the decision in Waleed Iqbal’s favor and have restored Iqbal day as public holiday.

Last year, Khyber Paktunkhwa was the only province to observe Iqbal Day as a public holiday, whereas other provinces following federal government’s call remained open as in other days.
