Tax collection increased by 18.2 percent in last six months, says Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday said that Tax collection increased by 18.2 percent during six months, Radio Pakistan reported.

Addressing at news conference, Finance Minster Ishaq Dar said Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected 785 billion rupees during the period as against the set target of 70 billion rupees.

Tax collection of first six months of fiscal year was 1385 billion against the target of 750 billion rupees..

Collection increased by 18.2% during six months, Minister claimed it to be highest in the history of Pakistan.

Commenting to inflation, he said during first six months it was at 2.1% and it is expected to remain with four percent at the end of the year.

Telling about Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme, Minister said that it has become a law and the government will impose it with the help of business community to enhance tax collection.
